Learners Permit

In This Life of OursThis was my teenage son last year when he got his learners permit. First try driving he almost wrecked my DH truck. He was practicing backing on our driveway and tried to back up to the tree. Good thing he used the brake before hitting it. I guessed he wasn't looking back and see where he's going. He saw me watching at the window looking like Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone after putting after shave on his face. He is better now, but still no drivers license.

I remember when I got my learner's permit few years back...I was driving alone even if I did not have my driver's license yet. I got a job and no one else will go with me. I don't want to take the bus either. It was not very far from where I live but I could get a ticket...that was a funny thought.

"I'm a Research Associate in the field of Child Development and Human Relations. I have a continuing program of research (What mother doesn't?) in the laboratory and in the field (normally I would have said indoors and out). I'm working for my Masters, (the whole darned family) and already have five credits (four sons & one daughter, 1 joined the working community, 4 were educated @ home ). Of course, the job is one of the most demanding in the humanities (any mother care to disagree?), and I often work 14 hours a day (24 is more like it). But the job is more challenging than most run-of-the-mill careers, and the rewards are more of a satisfaction than just money."
